Centennial Farm

journey through time

struggles of living
and working in the
sugar beet industry.
Through the Bee
family's triumph and
tragedies, learn
about 50-year run of
the sugar beet
industry as the 3rd
largest industry in
Colorado's history,
lamb feeding and the
history of
irrigation. Travel
to the historic
Horton Cattle
Company feedlots and
the La Luna Dairy,
home of over 2,300
head of dairy cattle
and see the only
modern day sugar
beet processing
station in Northern
Colorado on the
tour. Tour includes
stop at the 53-year
old Meisner Family
Farm for modern-day
farming with tour
accompanied by Gail
Meisner, President
of Bee Centennial
Family Farm Museum.

Man": Enjoy a guided
tour of Centennial
Village in
Greeley, CO to learn
about the
German-Russian
cultural and
agricultural
heritage of the
eastern plains of
CO. This
19th century
living history
museum is an 8-acre
site with historic
period homes, a
church, train depot,
operational
blacksmith and print
shops, one room
schoolhouse, first
county courthouse,
fire station,
homesteaders shack
and much more. Our
next stop is the Greeley
Freight Museum which
highlights the
railroads and the
role they played in
the history,
settlement and
economy of the
west. This
one-of-a-kind model
railroad is
INCREDIBLE: 5,500
square feet of
operational
miniature model
railroad, showcasing
mountain
railroading. Volunteers
were key
participants in
creating one man’s
vision here. We’ll
take a guided tour
with one of the
volunteers and go
behind the scenes. There
will be time to
explore on own.

Quilt Raffle
At
the 2013 Convention,
you will have the
opportunity to
purchase raffle
tickets for the hand
pieced and hand
quilted Double
Wedding Ring Quilt.
Unfortunately, the
name of the quilter
who pieced this
antique top is
unknown.
This special
quilt appears to be
have been pieced in
the 1930’s because
of the availability
of feed and flour
sacks.
Final
assembly and hand
quilting is loving
done by the AHSGR
Lincoln Quilters.
This cotton
washable quilt
measures 79 inches
by 97 inches.
Raffle
tickets are $1 each
or 6 for $5 and are
available at the
AHSGR Convention.
