AHSGR remembers Dr. Jerome B. Siebert

Jerry was a first-generation German from Russia whose family first settled in “Roosha” Town in Fresno, California. Jerry was born there on December 12, 1938, to Gottfried “Fred” Siebert and Amelia “Millie” nee Stiers. Fred was born in Dinkel, and Millie was born in Neu-Balzer.

He traveled to Russia, Germany, and Argentina, where he communicated with Germans from Russia groups. He served as President of AHSGR from 2005 to 2012. He also served over twenty-five years on the AHSGR Board of Directors since 1999.

Jerry was a key fund raiser and a generous financial donor over many years. He was instrumental as the Editorial & Publications committee chair, bringing many historical books to life. Jerry kept the international aspect of the group in focus as he connected across continents and brought many key German and Argentine speakers to the annual conventions.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Jan, who also has been a longtime supporter and volunteer to AHSGR. Jerry’s leadership and experience will be missed.

  1. I enjoyed working with Jerry in my years as a non-board and board member serving on multiple committees. His financial knowledge in investing and his generous donations to the organization were a only one aspect of his many contributions. He worked hard the future of the organization. And, he wasn’t afraid to get on the roof to fix shingles on the campus. He will be sorely missed. Condolences to his family.
