The American Historical Society of Germans from Russia has received a new artifact for our collection. DeEtta (Huck) Merritt Vrana donated a crocheted bedspread made by her aunt Katie Marquardt in 1941 as a wedding gift to DeEtta’s parents Kathryn (Schwindt) and Manuel Huck.
Both sides of DeEtta’s family are German-Russian and settled in Nebraska. The Schwindt family came from Norka, Russia, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1901. The Huck family came from Huck, Russia, and immigrated in 1907.
