New Recipe from AHSGR: Warm German Potato Salad

It has been said that there is a potato dish for every occasion. This updated version of German Potato Salad might just become a family favorite. If you prefer a more traditional version, leave out the celery seed and mustard.

Did you know that potatoes were first regarded as poisonous by most Europeans? They were introduced from Peru in the mid-1500s by sailors and traders. Because they resembled nightshade, potatoes were only fed to livestock and named the “devil’s apple.” They were grown as ornamental plants until peasants discovered that in fact, they were versatile, nutritious, and delicious. By the end of the 1700s, potatoes were a staple. Our German from Russia families, of course, cultivated and cooked with them. What was your favorite potato dish?
