Messer, Russia Family List 1834-1850

When this document was first written in 1834 the families were numbered. In
1845 or 1846 the families were renumbered. Thus there are two sets of family
numbers. Within the document references are made to movements between
families. These may be referring to either one of the sets of family numbers. We
have documented whether the reference is to the “Initial Family Number” or the
“Revised Family Number”. The families are in more or less alphabetical order.
(All the surnames are grouped together by their first letter but not in regard to
each other within the group.) There were a few new families that came into
Messer after 1834 and they were added at the end.
